Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards
This month, we are commemorating LGBT+ history month at a time where it seems human rights in the free world are particularly tricky to be assured of or indeed define. We are guided by our school values of respect and equity and recognise the tenacity it takes to live authentically in a world which may not always accept you for who you truly are.
Our second cohort of visitors from China arrived on Monday along with our second group of year 12 work experience leaving for Portugal. Thank you to all those who attended year 13 parents’ evening and hopefully this supported you in knowing your child’s next steps in their final months of compulsory education.
We look forward to welcoming you to our family forum on Monday evening at 5pm in the sixth form centre and year 9 parents will be aware of the options evening taking place on Thursday from 5 – 6.30pm. If you are in a bit of a spin with dates, please check our website for term dates, and parents’ evenings and on page 2 of our family bulletin, you will see a link to the family calendar which gives a bit more detail.
Challenge Partners Review
Our Challenge Partners report came in last week and it was truly heart-warming to read. The five reviewers visited us 22nd – 24th January and are all practising school leaders (with the lead reviewer being a trained lead Ofsted inspector). Year 9 Attendance Reward Celebration
On Tuesday, 4th February 2025, our Year 9 students were rewarded for their excellent attendance in the first term with a well-deserved celebration. They enjoyed the chance to wear their own clothes, indulge in pizza and drinks, and watch Wicked in the Theatre with their friends. It was a fantastic afternoon, and we are incredibly proud of them!
We look forward to the next Movie Afternoon to celebrate outstanding attendance in the second term. Well done, Year 9 — keep up the great work!
