Key Stage 4 Options Process 2025
Next week marks the launch of our Key Stage 4 Options process for 2025. Our Year 9 students will enjoy a month of taster activities, workshops and information-giving about the subjects they can choose to study in Years 10 and 11.
Our subject offer includes:
All students will also study English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science and Religious Studies.
If students would like more information, they should speak to our wonderful Curricular Leads or their subject teachers next week.
The Year 9 Key Stage 4 Options Information Evening will take place on Thursday, 13 February 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event is designed to provide you with essential information about the GCSE options process and the subjects available for your child as they move into Key Stage 4.
The evening will begin in the School Theatre, where you will be welcomed by Ms Welsford (Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Costa (Head of Year 9). They will briefly explain the process and key aspects of GCSE subject selection.
Following this, you will have the opportunity to visit the Heritage Room, where you can view a display of Design Technology and Artwork completed by our current Year 9 and GCSE students while enjoying refreshments.
After this, you will proceed to the Sixth Form Centre, where you can explore subject stalls, review information on the notice boards, and speak directly with Subject Leaders and Teachers to gain insights into the subjects offered and the selection process.
We look forward to welcoming you and supporting you and your child through this critical stage of their education.
Year 11 Mock Exam Timetable
Year 11 mock exams are taking place between Monday 24th February and Friday 7th March. To assist you in ensuring your child is fully prepared for these assessments, please see the mock examination timetable below.

The purpose of the mock period is to give your child an experience of the formal setting they will follow in June, this summer. It is also an opportunity for your child and us as their teachers to know which areas of the curriculum they need to focus on to ensure they attain grades they are happy with. It is therefore important that your child organises their time effectively prior to the exams – we would suggest constructing a revision timetable which would assist them with this. Over the next 3 weeks, please encourage your child to use all the study skills we have recommended through Year 10 and 11 to prepare for the mock examinations. In addition to this, we would highly recommend that you monitor the use of their mobile phones as this can be a huge distraction whilst revising.
Finally, it is imperative that you child attends exams in full school uniform. This includes their lanyard and blazer; if for any reason they have been misplaced then you should look to replace this as soon as possible. Also, to alleviate any undue pressure please make sure you child has the appropriate stationary in their bag the night before their exam.

Spring Term Intervention Schedule for Years 11 & 13
Please find the Spring Term intervention schedule for Year 11 and 13. Sessions began on Monday, January 6th and will continue through Thursday, April 3rd. They will be offered before school, during lunchtime, and after school.
To see if your child has been selected to participate, please check their Google Classroom. If they have been invited, we strongly encourage them to attend these valuable support sessions.

Penalty Notices
A reminder to families that following the new guidance on school attendance that came into effect from September, new absence fine rates and thresholds at which penalty notices can be considered are now in place. If a family takes their children out of school without authorisation for 5 or more days (which do not have to be consecutive) in a 10-week period, they will be liable to receive a penalty notice from Ealing. This can also include poor punctuality to school without an acceptable reason. Currently, the amount payable under a penalty notice is £160 per parent/carer, which reduces to £80 if paid within 21 days. If a further 5 days of absence occur, parents will be liable for a second penalty notice of £160 per parent per child with no reduction. If the penalty notice remains unpaid after 28 days, the Local Authority will consider a prosecution in the Magistrates Court.
Please note that penalty notices are issued per parent/carer per family so a family of two parents and two children will receive 4 penalty notices. Further absence could also result in prosecution.
We encourage all our families to notify us of any pupil absence, and for every day they are absent as well. When leaving a voice message, please ensure that you are using the mobile number we have on our system. If you have changed your number, please let us know.
