Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards

On Wednesday, our tenth annual Careers fair took place in the sports hall. The range and quality of organisations present was superb, as usual, but what was different this year was that all pupils on site had the opportunity to visit. Our year 8s and 10s always attend, but this year so did our 7s, 9s and 12s. The employers were falling over themselves to tell me how many great questions pupils of all ages were asking and wanted to know if we’d prompted them… we hadn’t!
This week we’ve also had trips to the London Dungeon for year 9 pupils, year 10s have been involved in the Faraday Challenge, there was a year 12 taster trip for Media, our Art & DT Summer exhibition and the Summer music concert took place and we had a DT Careers day on Friday.
Next week our year 10s go out on work experience, we have our Villiers at 50 celebratory lunch and the end of year trips take place. Lots of excitement to come!
I have recently been in talks with Deirdre Costigan (MP for Southall), Councillors Shahbaz Ahmed and Kamaljit Dhindsa about the amount of anti-social behaviour in the locality. It is a big concern for us and whilst we do our best at the beginnings and ends of the day to supervise our pupils on the way to and from school, we can’t be everywhere all the time. Our neighbours from the Darus Salam Mosque also joined us in our meeting with the Councillors. I have heard positive news from them all about how seriously it is being taken, but would encourage anyone witnessing incidents to call 101 so that the Met Police are able to allocate additional resources to the high demand.
Our end of term is Friday 17th July and all pupils will finish at 12.30pm. Term will start for new year 7s and 12s Thursday 3rd September and all other pupils will return on Friday 4th September.
Warm weather forecast
No red warning has been issued about the weather next week, so we intend to remain fully open, but we will remain vigilant and update you should anything change. Pupils continue to be allowed to wear the school Summer uniform as has been shared previously. We have asked all Heads of Year organising trips this coming week to consider the weather in their risk assessment planning . They will be advising pupils of the following:
Sun Protection: We will require pupils to wear loose, light-coloured clothing, wide-brimmed sun hats, and apply high-SPF (at least 15+ but ideally 50+) sunscreen.
Hydration: We will ensure pupils have constant access to drinking water and they are encouraged to refill bottles and drink more frequently than usual.
Seek Shade: Actively seek out shaded indoor or outdoor spaces. Avoid the hottest parts of the day (typically between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM).
Monitor Symptoms: Educate learners on the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke (e.g., dizziness, nausea, high body temperature) so immediate action can be taken
Transport: Ensure there is adequate ventilation/air con/ventilation etc.
At theme parks: Encourage pupils to use theme park apps to monitor queue wait times, encourage pupils to avoid long queue during the hottest parts of the day, identify the park’s first aid stations on arrival.
Descendants’ 21st Annual Dr. John Roberts QC CBE Achievement Awards 2026
Three of our students have been shortlisted for the Descendants’ 21st Annual Dr. John Roberts QC CBE Achievement Awards 2026. Descendants is a youth charity dedicated to promoting education, history, culture, and the arts for children and young people of African and Caribbean descent. Each year, the charity hosts the Dr. John Roberts QC CBE Achievement Awards to publicly recognise the outstanding accomplishments of these students. The awards celebrate excellence across various categories, including academic achievement, sports, STEM, creative arts, and leadership qualities. By highlighting these positive success stories, the annual event aims to build self-confidence and inspire future leaders within the community.
This year the organisers received more than 170 nominations from schools across the borough.
Lily C (KS3) – Pupil who excels in the Arts (Music)
Since her arrival at Villiers School in September 2023, Lily has consistently proved herself to be a dedicated, self-motivated pupil who pursues her studies and musical endeavours with an absolute determination. After joining our school choir as an alto, she quickly began piano lessons and established a methodical practice routine that has enabled her to progress rapidly to an advanced level. She is now an indispensable, exceptionally reliable member of our keyboard ensemble and school band, while also showcasing her outstanding initiative by independently arranging music for and directing her own vocal trio. Furthermore, Lily has proved herself to be a talented, versatile stage performer, throwing herself into the demanding role of ‘Donkey’ in our recent production of Shrek and bringing the house down with her confident performance. Despite her many exceptional achievements, she remains a thoroughly dependable, modest student who leads by example, making her a delight to teach and an incredibly deserving candidate for the award.
Alister F (KS4) – Pupil who works hard and achieves against all the odds.
Alistair is an exceptional pupil whose outstanding mindset, passion, and academic excellence are reflected across all his endeavours. Demonstrating remarkable initiative, he has taught himself advanced concepts in Mathematics and successfully progressed in the Isaac National Computer Science Competition. He has made remarkable progress through his relentless work ethic and resilience. Beyond academics, Alistair exemplifies integrity and leadership within our school community. As a form representative, he actively stands up against bullying and maintains an impeccable attendance record. His natural athletic talent is equally impressive. He has won the borough 100-meter race for four consecutive years and serves as Sports Captain, achievements that ultimately earned him a well-deserved football scholarship for Sixth Form.
Yahye M (KS5) – Future Leader
As our Senior Deputy Head Student, Yahye has become one of the most respected and dependable figures in our school community, leading through character, maturity, and an exceptional work ethic. He has shown immense growth in confidence, founding the school’s Debate Society, volunteering for key events, and being selected for the prestigious year-long Future Leaders Programme. Academically exceptional, Yahye regularly reads beyond the curriculum and generously uses his strengths to mentor younger students as a Science Student Ambassador and Reading Scheme volunteer. Beyond our school gates, he has been an excellent ambassador through the Citizens UK Youth Commission, while passionately advocating for equality, diversity, and inclusion within our local community.
Occasional Day Survey Outcomes 2026/27
BFI French Study Day
On 11th June, a group of thirty year 8 pupils studying French went on a trip to the British Film Institute on the South Bank. There they spent a whole day immersed in French as part of a French Study Day.
The theme of the study day was to explore diversity through short films in French. Pupils got to see what life is like through the lens of people living with diverse physical and cognitive challenges. They also deepened their cultural awareness and appreciation of the rich heritage of French-speaking countries by watching short film clips in French & completing activities in their booklets. Teju and Pinakin volunteered to go up on stage and perform an improvised role play in French in front of all the schools attending the event.
In the afternoon they watched Belle et Sébastien which tells the heart-warming adventures of a young boy named Sébastien and his loyal companion, a massive Great Pyrenees mountain dog named Belle, as they navigate danger, friendship, and loyalty in the Alps. It was certainly a rocky & emotional ride. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day. Year 7 pupils, watch this space next year!

End of Year Art & Photography Show 2026
Please join us in celebrating our students’ creative achievements in the annual End of Year Art & Photography Show 2026 in the Heritage Room.
The Art & Photography show is open from Thurs 2nd July at 3pm to Friday 10th July.
School arrival time
Please note that pupils should not arrive on site before 7.45am. Staff supervision is not available before this time, and this measure is in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. Breakfast club begins at 7.45am and entrance is through gate 6 on Villiers Road only.
Uniform reminders
We would like to remind all parents and carers that, from September 2026 (the start of the 2026/27 academic year) onwards, all pupils will be expected to wear white shirts rather than blue shirts. This change was communicated earlier this year as part of the updates to our school uniform guidance.
