Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards

Over the course of the week we’ve held a Maths architecture workshop, the Senior UK Maths challenge and our open mornings in school, then out of school there have been trips to Kensington Palace, Imperial college, Auschwitz and to the Tate modern. The following week promises to be equally exciting! Don’t forget about our meet the tutor evening for families of year 7 pupils on Thursday between 4 and 6.30pm.

We were delighted with attendance at our open evening last week and open mornings this week and have heard very promising things from families of some of our feeder primaries about their intentions for choosing us as their child’s High School. You still have time to convince friends, family and colleagues with children in year 6 to pick us as the deadline is 31st October.

We will send you further details today about the planned strike action on Tuesday 13th October.

Please do share any exciting achievements or success your child has outside of school with me so we can celebrate that here too. I’m aware we have a number of superb musicians, sportspeople and entrepreneurs in our midst and we don’t always get to hear about the incredible things they’re doing beyond the classroom. My email is headteacher@villiers.ealing.sch.uk

Outstanding sporting achievement!

We were delighted to receive the news that we have the British National Taekwondo Champion 2026 at our school in the incredible Lamise from 11E. All of this whilst in the final year of her GCSE examinations. She is a credit to her family and to the school!

Year 13 Physics and BTEC Applied Science classes Trip to Imperial College.

On Tuesday 6th October 2026, students from the KS5 Physics and BTEC Applied Science classes went on a trip to Imperial College. The students visited the Department of Mechanical Engineering, which specialises in studying the properties of industrial materials. They attended an engaging lecture exploring the various pathways into engineering. Prior to the session, the students had limited knowledge regarding the full breadth and depth of the field, an insight they warmly acknowledged and appreciated when reflecting at the end of the discussion.

The second part of the programme involved a planned series of material-testing demonstrations in the engineering laboratory. Students had the pleasure of carrying out a ‘Charpy impact’ test which measures the energy absorbed by a standard specimen as it breaks under an impact load. The photos below show the students actively engaged in these tests.

Students also had the opportunity to perform tensile strength testing. In this test, a specimen is subjected to stretching forces until it breaks, while the applied load is measured electronically.

Another fascinating highlight of the trip was viewing an exhibition of F1 racing cars designed and constructed by former students in their final year. Our students were even fortunate enough to watch current undergraduates building one of the latest F1 cars-a project expected to take a year to complete-which proved truly inspiring.

The trip concluded with a glimpse of the machinery used for testing larger specimens, alongside a tour of the design and manufacturing workshop. The professor guided our students through the laboratory, where they were mesmerised by the complexity of the equipment and the experience of seeing engineers at work.

Thank you to Mr Dzapasi for organising the trip and Mrs Saund for supporting.

Hands-on Architecture Workshop for pupils in Years 7, 8, and 9

Our Maths Department hosted an engaging Hands-on Architecture Workshop for pupils in Years 7, 8, and 9, and we were happy to welcome Year 6 pupils from North Primary School to join the fun! Working collaboratively in teams, the pupils put their problem-solving skills to the test as they constructed impressive bridges and Ferris wheel using only wooden sticks and rubber bands. Throughout the interactive sessions, pupils learned how 3D shapes work, why certain structures stay strong and stable, and how maths applies to real-life engineering. Everyone worked brilliantly together, tackled challenges as a team, and saw first-hand how exciting and practical maths can be! It was wonderful to see pupils across different year groups collaborating, thinking creatively, and bringing mathematics to life.

Enrichment timetable 2026

We are pleased to share our 2026 Enrichment Timetable. All enrichment clubs have now started and are proving very popular, with many filling up quickly.

We encourage pupils and families to review the timetable and sign up for any clubs of interest as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Enrichment activities provide excellent opportunities for pupils to develop new skills, pursue their interests, and get involved in school life.

Parent Workshop: Preparing for the Social Media Ban

Natasha Devon and Shahroo Izadi are joining forces to help families prepare for the social media ban coming in Spring 2027.

The government have confirmed that from Spring 2027 under-16s will no longer be able to use platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and X. It is a significant change, and a lot of parents are feeling apprehensive about how this will play out at home.

We’re putting together an e-book and webinar to help you and your teens and tweens navigate the change with the tools you’ll need.

Register your interest on the link (click here) and tell us what you’re most concerned about, or what you’d be grateful for advice on. We’ll shape the offering around what you tell us; drawing from our respective experience and expertise working across education and healthcare.
