Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards

Our last day of the Summer term and the Academic year 25/26 is here! The completion of our Summer trips, Sports day, Celebration evening and even Bastille day have taken place this week and all have been great successes. Pupils visiting from China arrived on Monday and have been shadowing our cohort to learn about school life in the UK. They have definitely had their eyes opened and the cultural exchange has been enormously valuable. We look forward to continuing this exchange with some of our own pupils visiting China next year!

We have also been accredited as a Rights Respecting School at Silver level this week which recognises the extremely important work we carry out on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Congratulations to all involved but particularly to Ms Reynolds who has brought this all together.

All pupils finish at 12.30pm today though sixth formers may leave after their last lesson of the morning. School is not open from today until the end of August though there will be a skeleton staff to support the ongoing works on site and various other functions. If you phone or email, it is unlikely you will have a reply before the beginning of the term.

Term starts for our new year 7s and 12s Thursday 3rd September and all other pupils return on Friday 4th September. Looking forward to a really positive new Academic year and hope you all have a restful break in the meantime

10th Annual Careers Conference

What an incredible milestone! At the beginning of July, Villiers High School proudly celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Careers Conference, bringing together our vibrant school community in spectacular fashion. This celebration was our biggest and most energetic yet, designed to inspire, connect, and pave the way for our pupils’ bright futures. A massive thank you to all the wonderful organisations, our long-term employer partners, and our brilliant students for bringing their curiosity and enthusiasm. Here’s to the next ten years of learning, thriving, and succeeding together!

Visiting students from Beijing Ritan High School

We have had an incredibly special atmosphere around the school this week as we proudly hosted a delegation of visiting students from Beijing Ritan High School.  Our Year 8 and Year 9 students stepped up beautifully to act as buddies, guiding our visitors through their daily timetables, sharing lunches, and introducing them to the ins and outs of life at our school. The visiting students jumped straight into our classrooms, experiencing a wide variety of subjects and getting a true taste of our school curriculum. The week ended with the closing ceremony which saw performances from both the Chinese students and Villiers students, and some lovely words were shared about the experience.

It has been a pleasure to watch the relationships develop so naturally over the course of just a few days. Despite initial quiet moments and any language barriers, our students quickly found common ground. We watched both our pupils and our visitors grow immensely in confidence, practicing their language skills, and laughing together in the corridors.  This week was a fantastic reminder of how global connections enrich our school community. We are incredibly proud of our Year 8 and 9 buddies for being such thoughtful, warm, and mature ambassadors. We wish our new friends from Beijing a safe and wonderful journey home, and we hope the memories and friendships made this week will last for a very long time!

The Big Future Survey

The Children’s Commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza, promotes and protects the rights of children, and ensures voices are heard by those who make decisions about their lives. She has launched her latest survey – The Big Future to give children a real say in the changes that are needed to ensure that childhood is a time of flourishing and growth.

The Big Future is open until 23rd October and asks children about childhood today – about the things that worry them, the things they love, the ways they have fun, and the changes they want for a better future.

At a time when there is a mood of doubt across Westminster and the nation at large about how we raise our children, from screen time to schooling, we will be granting those same children the right to vote.

For the first time, hundreds of thousands of children will be eligible to vote in the next general election at age 16, the biggest change to the franchise in half a century – yet just one in five children say politicians listen to them. It is more urgent than ever to make sure that children’s voices are heard by those in power.

The survey is for all children so please do encourage your child to complete the survey alongside any siblings, family members or even friends!

Here’s the link to the survey: childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture

French Day / Bastille Day

Villiers celebrated all things French on Tuesday. It started with a French breakfast at break time expertly served in French (of course) by Abubakar & Adam 8D in ‘la cantine’. At lunchtime there was a ‘Marché français’ with a range of activities run by students in Y7, Y8 & Y9. Parveen & Eshal 8G planned, made & served crêpes with a variety of mouth watering toppings. Ameera and Aminah Y8 created a clever game with clues to guess the French speaking footballers. Vyra, Rianna and Husna Y8 created a lucky dip and sold tempting patisseries.  Meoni and Ayesha Y8 invented a game to recreate the Eiffel tower. Olyncia & Aisha 9D did nail painting in the colours of French speaking countries flags. Mya & Shalom 7E sold brioches. Alexis Shazain Gurleen Zainab and Sarah 8A set up a French café. There were French bowling competitions. The whole school was labelled in French by students. And then there was the Villiers première of the Villiers ‘Coupe du monde’ or world cup football match…

The football matches between Spanish and French students were a fantastic success, with every match showcasing excellent teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. All three year groups produced exciting, competitive games with great technical ability on display. As it turned out the results pretty much predicted the actual match in Dallas that evening! In the Year 8 match, Spain claimed an impressive 5–2 victory. Kha’Mari led the way with two excellent goals, while Prianthan also scored twice to help secure the win. France battled hard throughout the game, with Yahya scoring both of their goals. Year 7 produced one of the closest matches of the day, with Spain winning an entertaining 5–4 contest. Goals came from Omid, Gurunoor, Ayub, Karanveer, Rayyan, and Eros, with every player giving their all until the final whistle.

The Year 9 match was a thrilling, high-scoring encounter, with France narrowly defeating Spain 9–7. Ali scored four goals, Lamari added four, and Tobi scored twice in an outstanding attacking display, with more goals from Elvert, Abel, Hardeep, and Sajjad, making it an exciting match from start to finish. A huge thank you goes to Abel, Tobi, and Prianthan for organising the teams and helping the event run so smoothly. We are also grateful to our referees, Lamari and Karanjaj, whose fairness and professionalism made the matches possible, and to our photographers, Sanika and Dilpreet, for capturing the highlights of a memorable day of football. Well done to everyone who took part and represented their teams with pride.

Ms Rousseva won the prize as the best dressed member of staff.

It was a day which gave our brilliant students a chance to shine whilst learning & sharing something hands on about French culture, in a fun way.

A donation will be made to Médecins sans Frontières who ‘act fast to save lives in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics.’

Thank you to all who were involved.

High Thrills and Screams: Year 12 End of Year trip to Thorpe Park!

On Tuesday 6th July 2026, our Year 12 students traded their textbooks, highlighters, and UCAS drafts for some of the UK’s most extreme rollercoasters.

After a demanding KS5 year of mock exams, coursework, and transition prep, the annual end-of-year trip to Thorpe Park was the perfect way to blow off some steam, celebrate their hard work, and make some unforgettable memories before heading into their final year.

Farewell to our wonderful Year 13s!

The Year 13 Prom was nothing short of spectacular, providing the perfect grand finale for an incredible group of students. The energy was electric as our Year 13s dressed to impress, danced the night away, and shared fond memories of the years gone by. It was a beautiful celebration of their hard work, resilience, and the lifelong friendships they’ve built during their time at school. As we say goodbye, we are immensely proud to see our students taking their next big steps. They are now busy planning for their exciting futures and heading off to prestigious universities or stepping into competitive and innovative degree apprenticeships. To our wonderful Year 13 class, we will miss you immensely. Thank you for leaving such a positive mark on our school community.

We wish you the absolute best of luck in your next chapters. Go out there and change the world!

GSK Mentoring Programme

Back in November, a select group of Year 12 students were matched with professional mentors through the GSK Mentoring Programme. Since then, students have participated in regular online and face-to-face sessions, gaining invaluable guidance on higher education, career pathways, and the professional world.

On Monday, 6th July, the cohort visited the GSK head office to celebrate the completion of the programme. Here is what one of our students had to say about the experience:

“I attended the GSK Celebration Event at their London headquarters to mark the completion of the Youth Careers Collective mentoring programme.

After participating in six virtual sessions and an insightful in-person session, the celebration was a fantastic opportunity to receive our certificates, network with industry professionals, and reflect on our growth.

Overall, it was a highly rewarding experience that significantly boosted my confidence, sharpened my employability skills, and better prepared me for future career opportunities.”

Year 12 Speaker Series: Cryptocurrency & Financial Education

As part of our ongoing commitment to preparing students for the rapidly changing landscapes of finance and technology, the WizeUp Financial Education  were thrilled to host the latest Speaker Series.

This session focused on the highly topical, often misunderstood world of Cryptocurrency, Students participated in an interactive workshop designed to explore cryptocurrency investing and analyse the key factors driving market fluctuations.

It was a fantastic opportunity for the year group to develop their financial literacy and critical thinking around digital assets. A massive thank you to our guest speaker from WizeUp Financial Education for donating their time and sharing such valuable expertise with our students!

Changes to the Student Leadership Team

After much consideration, Anishan has decided to step away from his role as senior deputy head student in order to focus on his studies. Zakariya (former head prefect) has been promoted to take his place, Zakariya has shown absolute dedication to his role as head prefect and has gone above and beyond to serve the school community. Huge congratulations to him and best wishes to Anishan.

Vaccination Catch up Clinics

As we approach the end of term, we are offering catch-up clinics for students who may have missed any of their routine school vaccinations.

The following vaccines are available under the NHS evergreen Offer:

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Vaccine – for students in year 8-13

Teenage Booster DTP/MenACWY – for students in years 9-13 who have not yet received these vaccinations.

If your child has already received the vaccine during our visit to your child’s school, please do not book an appointment. This helps us avoid duplicate records and ensures our vaccination records remain accurate.

These vaccinations provide important protection and are an important part of the routine NHS vaccination programme.

Please see below a leaflet for further information and details of how to book an appointment.

Measles vaccinations over the summer break

Measles is a highly infectious disease that spreads rapidly from person to person, particularly in settings where children and young people mix. A child with measles is likely to infect almost every unprotected child they come into contact with. There has been an increase in measles cases globally, which has also impacted the UK.

Summer holiday FSM vouchers

The Household Support Fund has now ended and has been replaced by the Crisis Resilience Fund from 1 April 2026. This has resulted in changes to the school holiday supermarket voucher scheme.

Ealing resident families eligible for benefit-related Free School Meals with children in Ealing state funded schools will continue to receive a voucher for the 2025-26 summer holidays. There will be no further school holiday vouchers issued after this.

Families who live outside of the borough of Ealing and attend an Ealing state funded school will not receive any further supermarket vouchers and should contact their home local authority if they need support.

For Ealing resident families, the value of these vouchers for the 2025-26 summer school holiday will be £90 per eligible child.

Ealing Local Authority will aim to send email vouchers by Tuesday 21st  July, with vouchers for the small number of families we don’t have an email address being sent via post on the same day.

Please note the summer 2026 school holiday vouchers will be the final school holiday vouchers families will receive. There will be no further school holiday vouchers issued and for future school holidays support will be through Crisis Payments | Crisis and Resilience Fund | Ealing Council and will only be for families facing immediate financial crisis.
