Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards
Year 11s and 13s have continued with their exams this week and they have been impressing us with their focused and positive attitude. Year 9 assessments have also started and will finish by the end of this half-term. We have had an NFL football trip, the year 12 Brilliant Club has graduated, we’ve had a year 8 History trip to Kensington Palace, year 8 vaccinations and we’ve focused on mental health awareness through tutor time and assemblies.
Next week we have a few more trips before half-term, a national youth music theatre workshop and the introductory meeting for next year’s China trip.
Half-term starts Monday 25th May and ends Friday 29th May. School will be closed except for pre-planned interventions which your child will have received details about if they are involved.

Year 8 History Trip to Kensington Palace
This Wednesday, our Year 8 historians enjoyed a fascinating visit to the new Sophia Duleep Singh exhibition at Kensington Palace. We were especially fortunate to be invited to trial a brand new education session at the Palace entitled “What does Kensington Palace reveal about the British Empire?”. As part of the session, students took part in an object handling workshop, where they were thrilled to hold genuine historical artefacts from hundreds of years ago, including a hot chocolate jug once used by the royal family and a collection of ostrich feathers from the Palace collections. These objects sparked thoughtful discussion and debate about the connections between Kensington Palace and the British Empire, with students exploring themes of trade, exploitation, wealth, and the enduring legacies of Empire. The education team at Kensington Palace were extremely impressed by the maturity, insight, and enthusiasm shown by our students during the discussions, and praised the quality of their contributions throughout the day.
Creative Competition
The Brilliant Club Scholarship Programme
The students participating in The Brilliant Club Scholarship Programme celebrated their graduation at Lady Margaret Hall, part of the prestigious University of Oxford, on Monday 11th May 2026.
Students were congratulated on their outstanding achievements and enjoyed a guided tour of the university campus. During the visit, they heard from current university students about university life and received valuable guidance on what makes an exceptional UCAS application. They also had the opportunity to listen to an inspiring speech from the University Dean.
Congratulations to all the students who took part in the programme and are now proud alumni of The Brilliant Club.
Summer 2026 GCSE & A-Level Examinations Timetable
Please find the attached Summer 2026 examination timetable, which outlines all exam dates for our students sitting GCSE, A-level and BTEC exams.
It is important that all students sitting exams this summer remain available up to and including Tuesday 24 June 2026. This is to ensure they are available to sit an exam that has be rescheduled due to a national or local disruption to the published timetable.
We therefore kindly request that any holidays are arranged from 26 June 2026 onwards. This will help ensure your child is able to attend all of their examinations and allow them to attain their best possible outcomes.
