Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards

Our Art, Photography, Food and Product Design GCSE practical exams have taken place this week as well as a year 11 Geography drop-down day and the Junior Maths challenge. Thank you to all staff who have put so much effort into preparing our pupils for these important challenges.

Speaking of challenges we had a very successful performance at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith this week as part of the National Theatre Connections programme. We are delighted that the pupils showcased aspiration and tenacity in abundance in their preparations for this, ably led by Mr Greenwood.

Next week we have more practical exams for Art, Photography, Graphics and Textiles as well as the translation bee regional finals. We wish them all the best of luck. Don’t forget that we will be closed 4th May as it’s a bank holiday. If you’re reading this on our Arbor app for the first time, congratulations, you are an early adopter! Lots more to come on this.

Temporary Road Works around Southall

This week has seen an increase in the number of road works, temporary traffic lights, and road closures in and around Southall.

As a result, this is having an impact on the traffic and increasing travel time, which means many students who normally arrive before school starts are now arriving after 8:30am and receiving a break time detention.

To avoid getting stuck in the traffic and to make sure students arrive to school promptly, we strongly advise all students to leave home at least 15 minutes earlier for the next few weeks, especially Year 11 students.

Students will continue to receive break time detentions for arriving after 8:30am, whilst Year 11 students might not be allowed to enter the exam hall if they arrive after their exam has started.

World Book Day

Congratulations to all participants and winners of the World Book Day competition:

Trisha V, Sartaj S, Vaania V, Mayank N, Fedek A, Sayna A, Shanzay B, and Lily C

The prize-giving ceremony held in the school library was a wonderful celebration of students’ enthusiasm for reading.

It is truly inspiring to see the love of books and the level of engagement our students have developed this year.

We are incredibly proud of their growth and achievements.

Geography Field Trip – Epping Forest

This week, year 10 Geography students visited Epping Forest to complete the first of two days of essential fieldwork for their GCSE course.

The focus of the day was an investigation into the characteristics of Loughton Brook River. Students were tasked with assessing how the width, depth and velocity of the river changed downstream.

This data will now be brought back into the classroom, where students will learn to present their findings using professional graphing techniques and statistical analysis in preparation for their paper 3 exam.

We are incredibly proud of how our Year 10s represented the school. They returned with a full set of data, experienced a beautiful forest and river environment and conducted themselves brilliantly. Well done year 10!

Year 12 Speaker Series: Inspiring Futures in Pharmacy

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting students in making informed decisions about their future careers, our Year 12 students recently took part in an engaging and insightful Speaker Series focused on the field of pharmacy.

The session welcomed a guest speaker, A local pharmacy, Jabeen Mohammad, with professional experience in the pharmacy sector, who provided students with a valuable overview of the industry.

The talk explored the different pathways into pharmacy, including university routes, apprenticeships, and the qualifications required to pursue a career in this field.  Students were given a clear understanding of what it takes to become a pharmacist, from studying relevant sciences at A-Level to completing a degree and professional training

Ealing Citizens Assembly

The Sixth Form team took part in the Ealing Citizens UK Assembly on Tuesday 28th April 2026, at St Anselm’s Church, Southall, UB2 4BE

This assembly represents the work of hundreds of individuals who have shared their experiences and collaborated to build a collective vision for positive change in Ealing. Attendance at the event helps to secure commitments from local candidates in response to these priorities.

Citizen Uk believe in playing their part to restore trust, integrity and accountability in our democracy, particularly during such divisive times, and we aim to build a positive working relationship with whoever is elected.

Eshleen, in Year 12, delivered a powerful testimony at the event, highlighting the work students have been undertaking with the Youth Commission and alongside Citizens UK on improving housing for the local community.

Summer 2026 GCSE & A-Level Examinations Timetable

Please find the attached Summer 2026 examination timetable, which outlines all exam dates for our students sitting GCSE, A-level and BTEC exams.

It is important that all students sitting exams this summer remain available up to and including Tuesday 24 June 2026. This is to ensure they are available to sit an exam that has be rescheduled due to a national or local disruption to the published timetable.

We therefore kindly request that any holidays are arranged from 26 June 2026 onwards. This will help ensure your child is able to attend all of their examinations and allow them to attain their best possible outcomes.

For further guidance on the examination series, please visit the JCQ website: https://www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/information-for-candidates/

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at exam@villliers.ealings.sch.uk.

We wish all students the very best in their upcoming examinations.

Alumni

Are you a former student of Villiers, or do you know someone who is? We have partnered with leading social mobility charity Future First to set up our Alumni.
