Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards

This week we’ve had some excellent feedback from University College London about our year 10s involved in a research project with them, the final two Geography field trips have taken place in Epping Forest (including one today) and we have had a Choral workshop in school.

Year 11s Graphics and Textiles assessments are underway and next week we have Art and Photography and Food and Product Design practical exams as well as the Junior Maths Challenge. We will also be saying goodbye to Mr Tyrie who goes on to be Head of History at another Ealing school. We wish him the very best of luck!

Have a great weekend!

Year 7 PGL Trip

The Year 7 residential trip to PGL at Marchant’s Hill in Surrey was a fantastic experience filled with adventure and lots of laughter. Students threw themselves into a wide range of exciting activities, including zip lining, the giant swing, laser tag, archery, and even axe throwing. It was wonderful to see so many stepping out of their comfort zones and building confidence along the way. One of the highlights of the trip was the silent disco on the final evening, which brought plenty of energy, laughter, and memorable moments for everyone involved.

Beyond the fun, the residential provided a valuable opportunity for students to develop teamwork, resilience, and independence, while getting to know their peers better. It was a truly enjoyable trip and a great way to strengthen friendships and create lasting memories. A huge thank you to all the staff for making the trip possible.

Celebrating Creativity: Architecture After School Club (AASC)

The Architecture After School Club (AASC) programme at Villiers recently reached an inspiring milestone, culminating in a vibrant presentation of student work. The end of project showcase was a testament to the students’ hard work and creative growth throughout the term. What an incredible opportunity our Year 9 students have had through the Architecture School Club. This partnership, supported by the Alan Baxter Foundation, has been a transformative experience for our pupils.

The program, expertly led by Architect Tatiana Machado, provided a high level of professional insight extending learning beyond the curriculum. The guided tour of Pitzhanger Manor was a particular highlight; being introduced to the legacy of Sir John Soane allowed our students to see architectural concepts like scale, structure, and light transition from theory into tangible reality. Our visiting partners from Pitzhanger Manor were incredibly impressed by the high calibre of the outcomes produced. Beyond the physical models and drawings, it was the students’ ability to articulate their design narratives and reflect on their personal experiences within the programme that truly stood out.

As we wrap up this phase, the student work is being prepared for transport to Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery. This transition marks the beginning of our preparations for the final AASC Showcase event.

We would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff at Pitzhanger Manor and Head of DT Ms Nayyar for organizing such amazing learning opportunity and Mr Fernandez for technical support. It was a joy to see the students’ pride in their work, leaving everyone involved with a great sense of achievement.

Brilliant Club Scholars Programme

Last Friday, our Year 12 students successfully completed the Brilliant Club Scholars Programme, led by Niranjana Menon, a Doctoral Researcher from Brunel University of London.

All students have now received their final grades and done extremely well. Their graduation ceremony will take place on Monday, 11th May 2026 at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford.

BTEC L3 Health and Social Care Group

The Year 12 BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care group has begun a First Aid course delivered by St John Ambulance. The programme will run over a five-week period.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate as Young First Aid Responders. This also provides a valuable opportunity to gain work experience, as St John Ambulance regularly recruits volunteers to support at concerts and events.

The course is designed to equip students with practical, real-world skills, including how to respond in emergency situations such as serious injuries or drug overdoses. It brings their learning to life and closely aligns with topics covered in the course, including ethical care and upcoming units such as infection control and cross-contamination.

Summer 2026 GCSE & A-Level Examinations Timetable

Please find the attached Summer 2026 examination timetable, which outlines all exam dates for our students sitting GCSE, A-level and BTEC exams.

It is important that all students sitting exams this summer remain available up to and including Tuesday 24 June 2026. This is to ensure they are available to sit an exam that has be rescheduled due to a national or local disruption to the published timetable.

We therefore kindly request that any holidays are arranged from 26 June 2026 onwards. This will help ensure your child is able to attend all of their examinations and allow them to attain their best possible outcomes.

For further guidance on the examination series, please visit the JCQ website: https://www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/information-for-candidates/

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at exam@villliers.ealings.sch.uk.

We wish all students the very best in their upcoming examinations.

Alumni
