Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards

This week we have been celebrating our pupils’ and staff’s culture and identity with a range of events including the very successful and enjoyable show which took place on Wednesday evening. Thank you to all who attended. During the day on Wednesday, staff and pupils wore clothes which they felt best represented their own culture and identity and the question is always asked, “Can we do this every day?” Sadly, it wouldn’t feel as special if we did this every day!
Wednesday also was a pivotal moment in the school’s history: we buried a time capsule at lunchtime celebrating fifty years of Villiers High School (though nearer 120 years as a school). Read more about this below. Looking to the school’s future, the work on site towards our new Eco Build (B04) has continued apace and we will shortly be able to bring you a section on our website giving you regular updates.
Finally, just a reminder that we finish at 12.30pm today and the school is closed for two weeks except for a small number of intervention sessions which have been communicated with your children if they are involved. We return on Monday 13th April and pupils will be expected in their tutor rooms by 8.30am. Have a wonderful break!
Time Capsule – sending a letter to the future!
As part of the events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the school becoming Villiers High, Headteacher Mr Richards, the Head students and other members of the school buried a time capsule in the Quad, ready for it to be opened in 50 years’ time. Items that were buried include pictures of students participating in school concerts and performances, musical scores written and performed by students, a school prospectus for parents, a map of the school to show what the site looked like, the school badge logo, the winning ‘birthday’ badge design, and a handwritten letter from one of the Head Students to those in the future. See you in 2076!

Culture and Identity Fair
Our Student Leadership Team hosted a Culture and Identity Fair on Wednesday 25th March at lunch, bringing together cultural foods, henna, face painting, and a Gol Gappa stall.
Thanks to the fantastic support from students and staff we raised £335.56 for Cancer Research.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the event such a success!
Culture and Identity Evening
Huge congratulations to everyone who made Wednesday night’s Culture and Identity show such a resounding success! The evening was a magnificent display of the unity and pride that define the Villiers High School community.
The show kicked off with a multilingual address from our Head Students, followed by a vibrant Bollywood opening. The talent on display was truly global:
Poetry & Song: Year 11s shared moving poems about Somalia and Tanzania, while soloists in Year 10 performed beautifully in Romanian, Moldovian, and Armenian. As well as a Year 9 and 8 duet in Hindi.
Dance: From the intricate Bharatanatyam and Kuthu styles of our Year 7 and 8 pupils to the high-energy Gidda/Garba/Bollywood ‘mash-ups’ and a solo dance in the style of Jamaica and Grenada alongside a powerful poem from a Year 10 student.
Drama: KS3 pupils celebrated Shakespeare’s legacy through various languages, and a closing performance that celebrated what our school values in a devised piece.
The night ended with an epic fashion show: a kaleidoscope of traditional dress that brought the entire cast together. This event was a perfect reflection of our diversity, weaving together worldwide traditions through the universal languages of dance, song, and drama.
Mrs F Reynolds
“The success of the evening was down to the tireless dedication of both students and staff. The students poured such energy and passion into their performances. Seeing you all on stage together was a powerful reminder that the Arts are at the very heart of who we are. Thank you for making it such a memorable event; they truly did themselves and the school proud.” Richard Hinwood, Chair of Governors

Science Week Celebration
Pi Week in Maths
Maths department celebrated Pi week following the 14th of March across the maths department. Our pupils created paper chains, dream catchers and skylines which represented the digits of pi. We explored the history of pi and its relevance in our lives today as well as solving lots of maths problems and puzzles involving pi throughout the week. Inspired by the world records, we had a competition for our students on who could memorise the greatest number of digits of pi.
The winners of the Piphiology competition are:
- Vinusha G 11I – 500 decimals
- Syed W 7C – 196 decimals
- Anushiya P 7E – 190 decimals
- Rajwinder S 11S – 181 decimals
- Harsimran S 11E – 162 decimals

Climate Adaptation Workshop
On Tuesday 17th March, members of the Villiers Eco Committee took part in an inspiring Climate Adaptation Workshop hosted by the local authority.
During the session, pupils explored detailed maps highlighting areas vulnerable to extreme climate events such as flooding and heatwaves including our own community in Southall. This eye-opening experience helped students better understand the real environmental challenges facing our local area.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to share their own perspectives, reflecting on how climate change is already impacting their lives and communities. Their thoughtful contributions sparked meaningful discussions about how we can all play a role in reducing risks and protecting our environment.
The Villiers Sustainability Committee continues to be actively involved in raising awareness and developing practical solutions, both within school and across the wider community. We are incredibly proud of our students for their enthusiasm, insight, and commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
Imperial War Museum
On Tuesday, a group of Year 9 students visited the Imperial War Museum, where they took part in a specialist session led by a Holocaust historian. They engaged thoughtfully with powerful first-hand quotes from Jewish individuals, reflecting on their experiences and emotions at the time, and examined significant artefacts, including a jumper belonging to Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, which she received in exchange for her bread rations. The museum educator commended our students for their impressive knowledge and insight. Throughout the session, students demonstrated both strong prior understanding and genuine curiosity, particularly when grappling with the enduring question of why the Holocaust happened and why it remains so important to study today.

Summer 2026 GCSE & A-Level Examinations Timetable
Please find the attached Summer 2026 examination timetable, which outlines all exam dates for our students sitting GCSE, A-level and BTEC exams.
It is important that all students sitting exams this summer remain available up to and including Tuesday 24 June 2026. This is to ensure they are available to sit an exam that has be rescheduled due to a national or local disruption to the published timetable.
We therefore kindly request that any holidays are arranged from 26 June 2026 onwards. This will help ensure your child is able to attend all of their examinations and allow them to attain their best possible outcomes.
For further guidance on the examination series, please visit the JCQ website: https://www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/information-for-candidates/
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at exam@villliers.ealings.sch.uk.
We wish all students the very best in their upcoming examinations.
