Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards
On the occasion of our last day of the term and our last family bulletin of 2025, it is nice to be able to report that we’ve had a slightly less busy week! Year 11 Graphics and Textiles practical exams have taken place successfully; we’ve had our rewards assemblies throughout the week rather than on the last day with the aim of keeping it ‘business as usual’ as far as possible. We know that this has a regulating effect on children (and adults!) who are rather tired at the end of term.
We’re also saying goodbye and good luck to a couple of members of staff: Ms Morgan, an agency Design Technology Teacher who takes up a substantive position in another Ealing school and Mrs Manak (later on in January), a member of the cleaning team who has been with us for nearly thirty years!
In case you are reading this before the pupils are dismissed, a reminder of the arrangements for the end of term: All pupils will be dismissed at 12.30pm and any sixth form students who have their last lesson earlier may leave when the lesson is finished. It is important you speak with your child about the arrangements for the afternoon. They should not loiter around school or the local area and should go straight home. The school site and office is shut from 2pm.
To manage expectations, over the holidays there will only be a skeleton service and we do not expect teachers to check emails or voicemail over this time. Term begins again 5th January with the expectation that pupils are in their tutor room for an 8.30am start. Wishing you a relaxing, festive break; Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all those who celebrate and happy new year 2026!
Checkmate! Celebrating Our Chess Champions 🏆
A massive well done to all the brilliant students who competed in our recent Chess Tournament! It was an incredibly intense three days of competition running from December 10th to 12th.
Our players showed fantastic focus and sporting behaviour as they battled through three intense rounds of strategic play. We are so impressed by the talent and determination on display!
A huge congratulations to our final winners: Shaun 7G – Champion, Abdinajib 10R – 1st runner up and Krish 8G – 2nd runner up. 👏👏👏

Punctuality to school
As we end one term and look ahead to another, we want to remind you about the importance of good punctuality for your child’s success at school. Arriving on time each day not only helps pupils settle in smoothly and start learning promptly but also teaches them valuable habits of responsibility and time management. Being punctual reduces classroom disruption and ensures your child doesn’t miss out on important instructions or activities. We are asking all pupils to start the new year by arriving to school by 8:20am, so they can avoid receiving a break time detention. Together, with your support, we can help create a positive and productive learning environment where every pupil has the best chance to thrive.
Penalty notice for Unauthorised Attendance
Parent/carers are reminded that if they take their children out of school for 5 days or more (which do not have to be consecutive) in a 10-week period, they will be liable for a penalty notice from Ealing. Currently the amount payable for the 1st penalty notice is £160 per parent/carer per child which reduces to £80 if paid within 21 days.
If a further 5 days of absence without a reasonable explanation occurs, then a 2nd penalty notice of £160 per parent/carer per child will be issued, with no reduction. If the penalty notice remains unpaid after 28 days, Ealing will consider a prosecution in the Magistrates Court. Further absences after this stage could also result in prosecution.
Please note that penalty notices are issued per parent/carer per child, so a family of two parents and two children will receive 4 penalty notices. Please check our term dates on our website to help you avoid taking your child out of school during term time.
School Streets
The Christmas holiday will soon be starting and we take this opportunity to remind you that School Streets operate term time only, according to the dates published on the Ealing Council website: Academic year 2025/26 | Term and holiday dates | Ealing Council Our scheme still operates on individual school INSET and occasional days.
We also confirm that the School Street cameras will be back in operation from Monday 5th January 2026.
