Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards
This week we held our family and community forums. Thank you to all of you who attended. I talked about how we are ‘better together’ and about the school’s desire to work with and for families to support one another. If you have any ideas for agenda items for future forums, please do contact the office for the attention of Ms Chander.
Year 8 had a visit from project scholar again this week. The programme aims to equip our students with crucial knowledge about key safety issues such as exploitation and grooming, youth violence and knife crime. Today we are also running a drop down sustainability day for year 7, there is a typography trip from DT and some year 12s are taking part in the Citizens Youth Commission.
Next week, there are a number of exciting workshops, trips and visits including our KS3 pantomime trips, a Villiers connect event including uniform swap and the speak out challenge
Year 12 A-level Politics visit to Parliament
Visiting Parliament was an insightful and eye-opening experience. The tour was very informative and we are very grateful to our tour guide. We saw the House of Commons, which seemed so much smaller than it appears to be on the television, the Lobby Hall and even learnt historical facts such as the fact that the Suffragettes handcuffed themselves to statues and red lines on the floor in the House of Commons to stop MPs from sword fighting! The main focus of our visit was to participate in a Human Rights workshop. It was really engaging as we got to ask so many questions and learnt about the complexity surrounding these rights, such as clashes between rights and how we can defend and protect them. Our favourite part of the day was the Question and Answer session with the MP for Ealing Southall, Deirdre Costigan. We asked about work experience opportunities at Parliament and why she voted in favour of the Assisted Dying Bill. Her responses were prompt and very insightful, highlighting the political side but also sharing opinions shaped by moral and ethical obligations. We also had the opportunity to be interviewed about our day by Deirdre’s social media manager, which shows that young voices really do matter! We are so grateful to have gone on this educational visit!

Year 10: Importance of Punctuality and Attendance
As we move further into the academic year and continue preparing for GCSE success, it is vital that all Year 10 students arrive to lessons on time and attend every session without fail.
Punctuality and consistent attendance are key factors that directly impact learning, progress, and ultimately GCSE outcomes. Being on time shows commitment, responsibility, and respect—core values that underpin our expectations at Villiers High School.
From this week onward, any student who is late to lessons three times will receive a one-hour after-school detention on Monday, and parents/carers will be informed.
Additionally, if a student receives a truancy log, they will face a two-day internal suspension.
We would like to ask for your continued support in reinforcing the importance of punctuality and attendance with your child. Together, we can ensure that every student upholds our Villiers values and remains on track for strong GCSE results.
