Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards
This month is both Islamophobia awareness and UK Disability History month and the school intends to recognise both in and out of the classroom. Look out for articles and competitions in this bulletin and in children’s out of class activities as part of our commitment to the school’s values of equity and respect. Next week will also be focusing on anti-bullying and children will attend assemblies focusing on how to recognise the signs, reporting and empowering them to speak up as well as remembering the fallen with 2 minutes’ silence on Armistice day 11th November.
Thank you to all year 7 families who attended this week’s meet the tutor evening. The music department ran their Bright Sparks trip to the Royal Albert Hall for KS4 students and we hosted the Primary netball finals this week.
You may also have read about the publication of Professor Becky Frances’ curriculum and assessment review and the government’s response to the report’s recommendations. We broadly welcome the findings and are glad that our existing work on making key stage 3 more robust, not diminishing the study of arts to pander to the arbitrary EBacc measure, a strong focus on extra-curricular activities and civic education, focus on cohesion and diversity and adaptive teaching are all recognised as being the way forward. Whilst this may not be the most interesting read for many of you, the implications of the report are significant and will see changes to what your child is taught, how they are taught and how they are assessed on what they know. Rest assured that once the government has clarified its intentions beyond broad ambitions and timelines, we will give you, and most importantly, your children, the full picture.
Family Forum
Our next Family Forum is Tuesday 18th November 2025 from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. We hope to see as many of our familes present as possible. We warmly welcome and encourage all parent/carers to attend.

Project Scholar
Project Scholar is a partnership between the Metropolitan Police and the West Area Safer Schools team designed to support Year 8 students. It offers a series of early intervention workshops for young people, with the first session successfully delivered to our pupils this past Tuesday.
The main aim is to equip our students with crucial knowledge about key safety issues. These sessions are led by plain clothes police officers and cover vital topics like:
- Exploitation and Grooming
- Youth Violence
- Knife Crime
In addition to the pupil workshops, the police hope to launch a valuable after-school session for parents and carers. This workshop, run with partner services, will help you:
- Identify the early signs of child criminal exploitation.
- Understand the support services available in our community.
We will share details about the parent/carer workshop as soon as they are confirmed.
This is a vital program to help keep our young people safe and informed.
London Fire Service
We were delighted to welcome an Education Officer from the London Fire Brigade this week, who delivered crucial fire safety assemblies to our students in Years 7, 8, and 9.
This session was perfectly timed! With Guy Fawkes Night just behind us, and ongoing community celebrations like Diwali and the upcoming New Year festivities, fire safety is top of mind.
The officer delivered age-appropriate and engaging messages to ensure our students know how to stay safe both at home and outdoors. Key points covered included:
- Fireworks safety
- Safe handling of sparklers
- Understanding the relevant laws around fireworks use
We are pleased to report that students engaged very positively with the presentation and now have the essential knowledge to enjoy these exciting events safely.
Key Pastoral Updates
Punctuality to School
We would like to emphasise the importance of good punctuality for your child’s success at school. Arriving on time each day not only helps students settle in smoothly and start learning promptly but also teaches them valuable habits of responsibility and time management. Being punctual reduces classroom disruptions and ensures your child doesn’t miss out on important instructions or activities. We are asking all students to make it their habit to arrive to school by 8:20am, so they can avoid receiving a break time detention. Together, with your support, we can help create a positive and productive learning environment where every student has the best chance to thrive.
Penalty Notice for Unauthorised Attendance
Parent/carers are reminded that if they take their children out of school for 5 days or more (which do not have to be consecutive) in a 10-week period, they will be liable for a penalty notice from Ealing. Currently the amount payable for the 1st penalty notice is £160 per parent/carer per child which reduces to £80 if paid within 21 days.
If a further 5 days of absence without a reasonable explanation occurs, then a 2nd penalty notice of £160 per parent/carer per child will be issued, with no reduction. If the penalty notice remains unpaid after 28 days, Ealing will consider a prosecution in the Magistrates Court. Further absences after this stage could also result in prosecution.
Please note that penalty notices are issued per parent/carer per child, so a family of two parents and two children will receive 4 penalty notices. Please check our term dates on our website to help you avoid taking your child out of school during term time.
