Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards
Welcome back! We hope you’ve all had a restful Summer holiday and that you’ve had a good first week back. It has been a pleasure to welcome our new year 7s and 12s who had their induction on Wednesday and the rest of you on Thursday.
We were delighted with the outcomes over the Summer with some significant improvements on already excellent performance at GCSE, A level and BTECs Level 2 and 3. The vast majority of our KS5 students went on to further study at a University of their choice, with several juggling offers from different Universities and some ‘upgrading’ their University as they had achieved better than expected. A large number of our former year 11s wanted to continue their studies with us and it’s always sad to have to turn some away as it gets more competitive every year. Our newly inducted year 12s are on their induction in Boughton Woods today and we look forward to hearing how they fared next week.
Our Introduction to Key Stage 4 Evenings takes place next week, with Year 10 on Wednesday the 10th and Year 11 on Thursday the 11th September, both days from 17:00 – 18:00, in our theatre, entrance and exit via Gate 6 on Villiers Road.
New Student Induction
From Friday 5th September to Friday 12th September we will dismiss Year 7 at 3pm to allow more space for you to collect your child. They will be dismissed from gate 1 on Boyd Avenue as they were today. Please wait on the opposite side of the road so it is easier for them to see you. From Monday 15th September they will be dismissed at the normal time of 3:10pm.
As a new school year begins, there’s always a flurry of excitement and a touch of nervousness, especially for the new Year 7s stepping into secondary school for the very first time. You’d think the transition would be a daunting one, but they’ve settled in remarkably well! It’s been amazing to see them navigating the bustling corridors, making new friends, and getting to grips with a whole new way of doing things. They’re engaging with their new subjects, asking great questions, and starting to build a real sense of community. The older students have been fantastic too, acting as guides and welcoming them into the school family. It’s clear that this year’s Year 7s are going to be a brilliant addition to the school. We can’t wait to see all the wonderful things they’ll achieve!
We also had a highly successful Year 12 Induction Day this Wednesday. It was a pleasure to welcome back our returning students and equally exciting to meet new students joining us from other schools. All the students embraced the day’s activities, including team-building exercises, with great enthusiasm. Their positive engagement truly set a fantastic tone for the academic year ahead.
