Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards

This week we’ve had lots of trips and visits: year 10s have gone to the East London Mosque with R.E., the Twist museum with Social Sciences, a Pilgrim’s Europe Noon food trip and their end of year trip to Thorpe Park; year 9s have visited Cranford Primary school and Year 12s have been to the Freud museum as well as carrying out a practice expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh Silver award.

In school we have held our Summer concert and Art Summer show as well as a Careers Conference, DT Careers day and our student leadership team held a Charitable Summer fair. Year 10s are out on Work Experience next week along with more trips and visits for other year groups and our sports day on Thursday.

Not that we’re counting down the days, but in just two weeks, term ends, and a reminder that we finish slightly earlier on this day. Key Stage 3 students are dismissed at 12.15 and year 10 students at 12.30. Year 12 students will be allowed to leave after their last lesson of the morning.

Staffing Updates for the New Academic Year

We are pleased to say that we are fully staffed with permanent teachers ready for the start of the new school year. Recruitment conditions nationally remain challenging however the school has attracted a strong field. Our staff team reflects a rich diversity of experience, with colleagues ranging from early career teachers and trainees to seasoned educators with over 30 years in the profession creating a dynamic and collaborative learning environment for all.

Leavers : At the end of this school year, we take a moment to acknowledge the contributions of those moving on and say ‘goodbye’ to some valued members of staff as they embark on new journeys:

Mrs Agusto, our Food Technology lead, moves to work in a new school closer to her home after 18 years of dedicated service at Villiers.
Ms Schaufeld also leaves to work in a middle school closer to her home. She has been a key part of the English Department over the last 7 years.
Mr Barber & Ms Suthakaran are venturing abroad for new professional opportunities.
Ms Fida & Ms Lovegrove leave for promotion to Head of Department in new schools.
Mr Sohal & Ms Singh have been with the school for 3 years and move on to further their career goals.

We are proud of all that these colleagues have achieved and grateful for the time we have shared with them. We wish them all well in the next step of their career and life plans.

Internal Promotions

Mr Ranu will start as Head of Year from this September
Ms Trad will take on the role of Deputy Head of Year from the new academic year.

Congratulations to our new leaders and teachers who have changed roles or gained promotion. They were selected through a competitive process of very strong internal candidates.

Teacher Joiners : We are excited to welcome a number of new teachers who will be joining our school community. Each brings with them a unique set of skills, experience and enthusiasm and we are confident they will make a strong contribution to our continued success.

Mr Angier is an experienced teacher in Geography with strong subject and pedagogical knowledge. He has already started working with us.
Mr Norman completed his PGCE placement with us and has now joined our staff full time as Teacher of Art.
Ms Hassan is an experienced Psychology teacher who has worked in London schools and is joining Villiers in September 2025 as Psychology Teacher.
Mr Kafroshi joins us at an earlier phase of his career as PE Teacher.

 Mr Fazel & Ms Ibrahim, who is also a parent governor, join the school as Cover supervisors.
Jorge Munoz Mora will join the school as a Spanish Language Assistant through the British Council Program.
Mr Lindblom will join as English Teacher and Ms Burnet as a Geography Teacher through the Teach First Programme.

Architecture Workshop – Exploring Maths in Action

The Maths Department ran an exciting Architecture Workshop where year 8 and 9 students worked collaboratively to design and build mathematical structures. Using their problem-solving and teamwork skills, they tackled engineering challenges that highlighted the deep connections between mathematics, technology, and engineering.

Throughout the day, students explored how mathematical principles underpin real-world architecture and construction, gaining valuable insight into the interconnections between STEM subjects and their wider applications.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring day for all involved – this is evidenced in the pictures and the video 😊

Year 8: Connect with Nature Club

We are very excited to share that some Year 8 students participated in the ‘Connect with Nature Club’ on Wednesday, July 2nd. The event was organized to encourage students to stay connected with nature and learn about various types of plants. They were delighted to support our School Gardener while beginning to develop essential gardening skills such as pruning and sampling.

Connecting with nature is a great way to relax the mind and body, relieve stress, and help your child focus more on their learning.

We look forward to welcoming more students to join this club, where they will acquire valuable real-life skills. In the future, when your child has their own home, they will be able to apply these skills—whether in their own garden or elsewhere.

A special thanks goes to our school gardener, Amanda, for dedicating her time to supporting and educating our wonderful students. We also want to express our gratitude to all the families for their ongoing support of our students, Villiers, and this community.

Year 11 Prom 2025 – A Night to Remember!

We would like to say a huge thank you and well done to all our Year 11 students who attended the 2025 Prom. It was a fantastic evening filled with joy, laughter, and celebration. The students looked absolutely amazing and truly made the night special.

This event marked not only the end of their secondary school journey but also celebrated their hard work and dedication throughout their GCSEs. We are incredibly proud of how far they’ve come and we look forward to seeing them continue to thrive in their next steps.
