Message from the Headteacher, Mr Richards
This week, we held our first race equality family forum led by Louise Brown from the local authority. We look forward to many more attending this exciting family-led initiative in future. We also held our final community forum of the year and made real progress on some local issues. We have had a number of trips going out this week including the year 9 rewards trip to Oxygen trampoline park, year 8 trip to Gunnersbury museum, the year 10 Geography field trip, year 8 & 9 Spanish cinema trip, the year 8 rewards trip and the year 10 programming trip. Thank you to staff for putting these on and giving up their precious free time.
Year 11 and 13 have continued to plough through their BTEC, GCSE & A level exams in a really focused manner and we know that a great many year 10s and 12s are watching from the sidelines considering how they will fare next year. Keep calm and during the break, make sure your child has some down-time and rest as well as focused study.
With half-term just around the corner, please note that we have our year 7 parents’ evening the first week back (5th June), and the year 8 in-class assessments take place the week we return. It’s worth bookmarking our school safeguarding page in case you need it over the holiday as we are not available or in school during this time but will pick anything non-urgent up following the holiday. The school street cameras are not in operation over half-term and will be back on again 2nd June. Do have a lovely break and see you 2nd June.
Deputy Head Student Selection Announcement
On Wednesday, we interviewed 14 students for the role of Deputy Head Student. We were incredibly impressed by the dedication, leadership, and enthusiasm shown by all the candidates. We are pleased to announce that the following students have been selected:

London Regional Translation Bee Competition
Winners of the Villiers whole school French and Spanish Translation bee competition attended the London Regional Competition at the Frances Bardsley Academy, in Romford, last Thursday. They were part of the remaining 63 of the original 3834 students who started the competition in London. All the regional finalists did really well, and were commended by the organiser, Sarah Schechter, the Director of Routes into Languages East, & Fellow of Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge.
We are very proud of our competitors who memorised 552 different possible sentences in Spanish or French! The words in the spelling bee and the translation bee have been carefully selected to match wordlists for the new GCSEs in French & Spanish, and so put our students at an advantage for taking their languages GCSE. Our competitors and their supporters had a “very enjoyable afternoon” and commented that it was “a really good competition”. They learnt valuable lessons & life skills. For example, one of our finalists came to the conclusion that “I need to follow my own advice!” Some of the Villiers students are pictured in the Great Hall where the finals were held. Look out for the Translation Bee competition next year if you are in year 7 or 8.
