Message from the Headteacher, Mr C Richards:
We were very lucky to have a visit from the prize-winning author, Mona Arshi, this week. Mona worked as a Human rights lawyer at Liberty before she started writing poetry. Her debut collection ‘Small Hands’ won the Forward Prize for best first collection in 2015. Her poems and interviews have been published in The Times, The Guardian, Granta and The Times of India as well as on the London Underground.
We had some useful meetings with families of year 11 and 13 students following their mock examinations on Tuesday which will help students to achieve their very best in the Summer. We are grateful to all of those who came along to support their children. Ms Chughtai has put together the Easter intervention sessions and has shared this with you already. All sessions are on google classroom for reference. There will be several practical exams taking place in the first couple of weeks back including textiles, Drama, Graphics, Art and Photography so those students in year 11 and 13 will need to hit the ground running.
We wish those going on the P.E. trip to Greece a very successful tour and we’re looking forward to lots of exciting photos and tales on your return.
Next term starts Monday 15th April and, as usual, students must be through gate 6 by 8.27am at the latest so that they’re on time for the start of their tutor period at 8.30. Please remember not to drive through Villiers Road and Boyd Avenue between 8.10 and 8.50 in the morning and 2.30 and 3.30 in the afternoon so as to avoid incurring a fine. Do enjoy the break; Happy Easter and Eid Mubarak to those celebrating.

Change to lunchtime arrangements after the Easter break
Due to the imminent start of the work on our new building, we will have less space for all the pupils to have the same lunchtime sitting. Therefore, from Monday 15th April, we will move to split lunches.
- Years 7, 8, 11 and 13 will continue to have their lunch from 12.30pm until 1.20pm
- Years 9, 10 and 12 will move to a later lunchtime of 1.20pm until 2.10pm. We recommend that the pupils have a snack at breaktime to help keep their energy levels up until their later lunchtime.
On Thursdays, Years 9, 10 and 12 will not have a lesson after lunchtime. Therefore, they will be dismissed from school at 1.50pm and expected to be off site by 2pm.
On Thursdays, Years 7, 8, 11 and 13 will be dismissed at the usual time of 2.20pm.
The new arrangements will be explained to all pupils during the extended form time on Monday 15th April.
Uniform after the Easter holiday
Please ensure that your child has all items of uniform after the Easter break. Uniform checks will be conducted during registration on Monday 15th April. For more information about our school uniform, please go to our website. Thank you for your support.

Top tips for staying secure online from the National Cyber Security Centre
Combine three random words to create a password that’s ‘long enough and strong enough’.
Weak passwords can be cracked in seconds. The longer and more unusual your password is, the harder it is for a cyber criminal to crack. A good way to make your password difficult to crack is by combining three random words to create a password (for example applenemobiro). Or you could use a password manager, which can create strong passwords for you (and remember them). Avoid the most common passwords that criminals can easily guess (like ‘password’). You should also avoid creating passwords from significant dates (like your birthday, or a loved one’s), or from your favourite sports team, or by using family and pet names. Most of these details can be found within your social media profile. If you’re thinking of changing certain characters in your password (so swapping the letter ‘o’ with a zero, for example), you should know that cyber criminals know these tricks as well. So your password won’t be significantly stronger, but it will be harder for you to remember.
If you want to find out more about why the ‘three random words’ technique works, you can read this blog by one of the NCSC’s technical experts that further explains our thinking.
