Message from the Headteacher, Mr C Richards:
Our year 11 and 13 students have received the results of their mock examinations this week and it was a pleasure to see so many reaching their targets and celebrating success. There are always a few who are disappointed but make sure families use this ahead of the final exams in May to spur them on to bigger and better things. There is time to improve as long as they concentrate and work hard now.
We held our year 7 road safety workshops this week which is absolutely vital. Although children are often taught the green cross code in Primary school and although we now have our school streets which have significantly reduced traffic on entry and exit to school, we know that a number of students still cross the road without checking both ways. Please do encourage your child to read this short article.
A reminder that our term ends next week Thursday 28th March. Years 7 – 9 will be dismissed at 12.15pm; years 10 and 11 at 12.30pm and sixth formers will leave after their last timetabled lesson of the morning following period 1.
Rewards Month at Villiers
Our first Rewards Month at Villiers is underway. This is an opportunity for us to focus on all of the brilliant learning, activities and conduct that we see every day in school. Staff have rewarded lots of pupils who are using the values of the school, working hard in lessons, are on time to school everyday and for contributing positively to the life of the school.
Congratulations to all the pupils who have received awards so far this month. Keep up the good work. 🎉
The French Play
Year 8 to Year 11 pupils were treated to an unforgettable experience as they immersed themselves in a captivating French play centred around an art class, performed by the Onatti theatre company. From start to finish, the entire performance was entirely in French! Our pupils worked hard to follow the story, showcasing their language skills and embracing French culture.

Cooking Club
During cooking club the students made brownies and demonstrated cooking skills such as weighing, mixing a combination of ingredients, sieving and setting the oven temperature. The students had a great time and enjoyed their delicious brownies.
Ealing Mental Health Summer Workshops
Over summer, Ealing Mental Health Support Team will be running a variety of online workshops for parents and carers of children who attend a school in Ealing. Family Forum – Monday 25th March from 5-6pm
We welcome the effective working relationships that exist in our school community and the links between school and home are a real strength and something that we are very proud of.
What is a family forum?
This is a chance for you to come to school to have an open discussion about specific topics and to hear from the senior leadership team of the school. Please note that this is not an event to bring children to.
When will it take place?
The next family forum will take place on Monday 25th March from 5-6pm. To book your place, please email info@villiers.ealing.sch.uk
How will it work?
To ensure that the family forum runs smoothly and effectively there will be a set agenda in place of topics to discuss.
The agenda for the next forum is:
- Keeping children safe in the community (Safer School’s Officer)
- Dangers of vaping (Safer Schools’ Officer)
- Behaviour systems in school
- External services for families
If there is a topic that you would like raised, please include this when you email to book your place. There are limited places and they will be given on a first come, first served basis. The deadline for booking a place is Friday 22nd March; you will receive an email from school to inform you if you have a place or not.
Please note that for any individual concerns or queries about your child/children you will continue to contact the relevant member of staff who will help to address this.

Festival of reading
Our inaugural Book Fest is in full swing! So far this month it has been great so many pupils joining in with the events and activities aimed at promoting literacy and a lifelong love of books. The Book Fest activities feature a variety of events and activities throughout the month of March to spark students’ interest in reading, including a guest author visit, a book cover design contest, and rewards for students who meet reading goals.
The festivities will be underpinned by a school-wide reading month. Our goal is for students to walk away from the Book Fest with a renewed passion for reading and vivid memories of events that will inspire them to pick up books for years to come.

Winners For the Door Decorating Competition
Teachers at the school have done an amazing job decorating their doors. Every door that has been decorated, was influenced by a book they enjoyed and inspired them. Selecting the winners was difficult, but after careful consideration, the students selected the winners below.
Congratulations to all the winners and other staff members who took part in the competition. The winners will get their prizes next week.

Top tips for staying secure online from the National Cyber Security Centre
Combine three random words to create a password that’s ‘long enough and strong enough’.
Weak passwords can be cracked in seconds. The longer and more unusual your password is, the harder it is for a cyber criminal to crack. A good way to make your password difficult to crack is by combining three random words to create a password (for example applenemobiro). Or you could use a password manager, which can create strong passwords for you (and remember them). Avoid the most common passwords that criminals can easily guess (like ‘password’). You should also avoid creating passwords from significant dates (like your birthday, or a loved one’s), or from your favourite sports team, or by using family and pet names. Most of these details can be found within your social media profile. If you’re thinking of changing certain characters in your password (so swapping the letter ‘o’ with a zero, for example), you should know that cyber criminals know these tricks as well. So your password won’t be significantly stronger, but it will be harder for you to remember.

Behaviour Systems
Our behaviour systems have been further developed so that they are clear and transparent for everyone. Please see our new behaviour pyramid below. Year 10: Non-A level progression to Sixth form
The Ealing Learning Partnership are running a “Progressions to level 2” careers event targeted at families of current year 10 students who may not want to or be able to choose to study A-Levels at sixth form level. Please read the attached for more information.
Medical needs & allergies
We would like to ensure that our school records accurately reflect your child’s medical needs including information on any allergies. Please keep us informed of any changes to your child’s medical allergies to ensure information is accurate and up to date on our school system. In the case that a student has been prescribed an Epi-Pen by the doctor, they should bring two Epi-Pens to school, one to carry on their person and the other to be provided to the Welfare Office, as a spare in case of an emergency. Please encourage your child to check with the canteen staff for any food allergies and to read the food labels before making purchases. Online Safety (QR codes)
QR codes are commonly used when logging onto devices or when needing to access websites. However they are increasingly being used in phishing emails, therefore often scamming many individuals. To be aware of online safety, please see the attachment below.
School Streets
Villiers is proud to announce it is the first High School in Ealing to launch the Ealing Street School Initiative which encourages children to cycle, scoot and walk to school. Further information can be found in the attached document.
Year 11 & 13 Intervention Schedule: Spring 2024
Please find attached the new Year 11 and Year 13 intervention schedule for the Spring term. It is imperative that students attend the sessions they have been invited to as this will allow teachers to provide them with targeted support in preparation for the mock exams which will take place in February/ March 2024.

We are a cashless school and families can pay for school meals, stationery, trips and clubs via ParentPay. You can top up your ParentPay account from a bank account or by using a debit/credit card. If you do not have a valid bank account or debit/credit card, please email info@villiers.ealing.sch.uk. We will set up a PayPoint account, so you can make payments using cash.
