Message from the Headteacher, Mr C Richards:
This week we were delighted to welcome families to attend the ‘home’ performance of “Wind/Rush Generation(s)”; a complex play that was particularly mature in content discussing topics such as colonialism, race and migration. We were very proud of the students who took part.
We were honoured to support the ‘Diversity in Leadership’ programme run by the Ealing Learning Partnership. Three candidates from other Ealing schools who are looking to take the next steps in their career visited the school and took part in mock interview activities including panels and presentations. This programme aims to help middle leaders from Black, Asian and other minoritised ethnic communities to pursue careers in Senior Leadership given that teachers from minoritised ethnicity communities are underrepresented in the profession, particularly at senior leadership and are less likely to stay in the profession. In Ealing whilst over 70% of our pupil population is from Black, Asian and minoritised backgrounds, for school leadership generally this translates into only 23%, though for the Villiers Senior Leadership team, we are doing much better at nearly 60%.
Our amazing school council met with me and some of our Senior Leadership Team on Thursday to ask about key themes that mattered to different year groups; they continue to impress us with their maturity and candour.
Rewards Month at Villiers
Our first Rewards Month at Villiers is underway. This is an opportunity for us to focus on all of the brilliant learning, activities and conduct that we see every day in school. Staff have rewarded lots of pupils who are using the values of the school, working hard in lessons, are on time to school everyday and for contributing positively to the life of the school.

Be a Wildlife Hero !
Join us on Monday 18th March, 3.30 – 4.30pm to help plant a new hedgerow.🌳 🦔
The Woodland Trust have kindly donated 400 saplings so that we can plant a hedgerow along the boundary of the playing field. This is an important development in our quest to increase the biodiversity on the school site.
Hedgerows are a vital habitat for wildlife, providing food and shelter for birds, insects, and mammals. Come and join us to create a wildlife corridor and hedgehog highway.

Year 12 and 13 delve into the intricate world of medicine production !
Students in Year 12 and 13 embarked on a transformative educational journey at GSK, delving into the intricate world of medicine production and the pharmaceutical industry. Immersed in hands-on experiences, these students not only learned the intricate processes behind manufacturing medicine but also gained invaluable insights into the multifaceted aspects of the pharmaceutical sector. Through workshops, demonstrations, and guided tours, they explored the rigorous standards, innovative technologies, and ethical considerations inherent in drug development and production.
This immersive experience not only expanded their scientific knowledge but also provided a real-world context for their studies, igniting a passion for pharmaceutical sciences and inspiring future generations of researchers and innovators. They really showed great tenacity will completing the manufacturing challenge and asked fantastic question to the volunteers.

Adisa the Verbaliser
Students at Villiers High School recently enjoyed an inspiring visit from British performance poet Adisa, also known as Adisa the Verbaliser. Adisa spent the day leading interactive poetry workshops for groups of Year 9 and Year 8 students. Through dynamic performances of his own poetry and spoken word pieces, Adisa demonstrated the power of language and creative expression. He then worked with students to help them discover their own poetic voices. Students were encouraged to draw on their life experiences, observations, and imagination to craft original poems and short pieces of creative writing.
Lady Margret Primary school visit
Fourteen students from Villiers High School visited Lady Margaret primary school to read and interact with younger students as part of Villiers High School’s Book Festival celebration. Our students spent the morning reading books and participating in literacy-focused activities with students from reception to year 5. Lady Margret staff members complimented the Villiers High School students on their enthusiasm, kindness, and exemplary behaviour throughout the visit.
Star bakers & The Book Bake Off
Students at Villiers High School recently participated in a fun book-inspired baking competition organised by Mrs. Augusto. The “Book Bake Off” challenged students to decorate cookies inspired by their favourite books.
Shlesha N, a student in year 9 won the Star Baker reward with cookies inspired by the book “Trash”.
Family Forum – Monday 25th March from 5-6pm
We welcome the effective working relationships that exist in our school community and the links between school and home is a real strength and something that we are very proud of.
What is a family forum?
This is a chance for you to come to school to have an open discussion about specific topics and to hear from the senior leadership team of the school. Please note that this is not an event to bring children to.
When will it take place?
The next family forum will take place on Monday 25th March from 5-6pm. To book your place, please email info@villiers.ealing.sch.uk.
How will it work?
To ensure that the family forum runs smoothly and effectively there will be a set agenda in place of topics to discuss.
The agenda for the next forum is:
- Keeping children safe in the community (Safer School’s Officer)
- Dangers of vaping (Safer Schools’ Officer)
- Behaviour systems in school
- External services for families
If there is a topic that you would like raised, please include this when you email to book your place. There are limited places and they will be given on a first come, first served basis. The deadline for booking a place is Friday 22nd March; you will receive an email from school to inform you if you have a place or not.
Please note that for any individual concerns or queries about your child/children you will continue to contact the relevant member of staff who will help to address this.

Science Week at Villiers
On Tuesday, sixty students from Blair Peach Primary School collaborated in the science department to explore the behavior of light. They effectively assembled a ray box, mirror, and prism to observe reflection and refraction phenomena. Congratulations to all the young scientists who enthusiastically participated and showcased outstanding engagement in the learning journey!
Science Competition
The Science department have a competition running where students are encouraged to create a sand timer that measures 1 minute. Once you have designed your timer, please hand it in to your science teacher before 18th March. Good Luck!

Festival of reading
Our inaugural Book Fest is in full swing! So far this month it has been great so many pupils joining in with the events and activities aimed at promoting literacy and a lifelong love of books. The Book Fest activities feature a variety of events and activities throughout the month of March to spark students’ interest in reading, including a guest author visit, a book cover design contest, and rewards for students who meet reading goals.
The festivities will be underpinned by a school-wide reading month. Our goal is for students to walk away from the Book Fest with a renewed passion for reading and vivid memories of events that will inspire them to pick up books for years to come.

Top tips for staying secure online from the National Cyber Security Centre
Combine three random words to create a password that’s ‘long enough and strong enough’.
Weak passwords can be cracked in seconds. The longer and more unusual your password is, the harder it is for a cyber criminal to crack. A good way to make your password difficult to crack is by combining three random words to create a password (for example applenemobiro). Or you could use a password manager, which can create strong passwords for you (and remember them). Avoid the most common passwords that criminals can easily guess (like ‘password’). You should also avoid creating passwords from significant dates (like your birthday, or a loved one’s), or from your favourite sports team, or by using family and pet names. Most of these details can be found within your social media profile. If you’re thinking of changing certain characters in your password (so swapping the letter ‘o’ with a zero, for example), you should know that cyber criminals know these tricks as well. So your password won’t be significantly stronger, but it will be harder for you to remember.

Medical needs & allergies
We would like to ensure that our school records accurately reflect your child’s medical needs including information on any allergies. Please keep us informed of any changes to your child’s medical allergies to ensure information is accurate and up to date on our school system. In the case that a student has been prescribed an Epi-Pen by the doctor, they should bring two Epi-Pens to school, one to carry on their person and the other to be provided to the Welfare Office, as a spare in case of an emergency. Please encourage your child to check with the canteen staff for any food allergies and to read the food labels before making purchases. Year 11 & 13 Intervention Schedule: Spring 2024
Please find attached the new Year 11 and Year 13 intervention schedule for the Spring term. It is imperative that students attend the sessions they have been invited to as this will allow teachers to provide them with targeted support in preparation for the mock exams which will take place in February/ March 2024.

We are a cashless school and families can pay for school meals, stationery, trips and clubs via ParentPay. You can top up your ParentPay account from a bank account or by using a debit/credit card. If you do not have a valid bank account or debit/credit card, please email info@villiers.ealing.sch.uk. We will set up a PayPoint account, so you can make payments using cash.
