Week Ending Friday 5th May 2023

Message from the Headteacher, Ms A. Sharma:

On Wednesday, we were visited by the Headteacher of Featherstone High School to see our lunchtime arrangements.  He stayed to eat the delicious Chicken Biryani served in the canteen amongst many other tasty dishes.  He was very impressed with not only the food on offer but also the calm ambience in the canteen, as well as around the school.  He commented on how polite and respectful the students were.  Thank you for all that you do to help us maintain such high standards, so that students develop into fantastic young people and responsible citizens.  Please remind your child to go straight home at the end of the school day.  No one should hang around any of the main roads or parks in large groups- it creates a bad impression of them and the school.

Enjoy the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and the long weekend.

Due to the exams taking place next week, all students must attend school in their P.E. kit. Please refer to the photos for the P.E. kit expectation when travelling to school and during lessons.

Year 10 trip – Kew Gardens

Well done to the Year 10 art students for another successful trip. They had the opportunity to walk around Kew Gardens for the day and record sources for their current project titled “Beginnings and Ends”. They also participated in a Grand Design Challenge, where students reimagine the garden’s greenhouses with a more sustainable twist. Students will now take their photographs and create anthropomorphic botanical monster sculptures.

Co-opted Governor Vacancy

Villiers is looking for a new co-opted governor to join the school governing body to help guide the school in its next phase of development.  A co-opted governor cannot be a parent of a child currently at the school (there are elections to appoint parent governors) but should be someone who either lives or works locally.  Ideally the co-opted governor should have some specific skills that can be of use to the governing body e.g. finance, education, estates management, marketing, etc.  If you know of friends or family who might be interested please contact sscott@villiers.ealing.sch.uk who will arrange for you to meet the Chair of Governors to discuss this further.

Welfare and Medical Updates

Year 8 HPV vaccinations will be held on Wednesday 5th July 2023. An electronic consent form has been sent to you via email. This must be completed as soon as possible, even if you do not consent, please select ‘no’.  Please read the letter sent out for further details, and if you have any questions you may contact the Welfare Officer.

A reminder that students should not be carrying any medication, unless it has been prescribed by the doctor to take in school and a medication consent form has been filled in for safety purposes. Due to this cold weather lots of viral infections have been going around and students are getting sick. Please encourage your child to keep warm, have a good breakfast and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Students are not allowed to call home for sickness, as this disrupts the school. If you are feeling unwell, you must got to welfare and parents/carers will be contacted if necessary.
